Meditation and Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a state of mind, which is defined as “focusing one’s attention, in the present moment, in a non-judgmental way” (Jon Kabat-Zinn).

Meditation is the formal practice of mindfulness.

In our society, we are constantly rushing, from one place to the next. We mostly run on auto-pilot and our resources get depleted. By practicing mindfulness through meditation, one gets the control back, in the sense that one finally becomes more aware. One can stop for a moment, and recharge. With awareness, one becomes more present, and one can notice all the subtleties and beauties that life has to offer.

Take a moment to practice this acronym: STOP.

S: Stop for a moment – T: Take three deep breaths – O: Observe your body and mind ( whatever you feel, whether comfortable or uncomfortable) – P: Proceed with kindness (what you were doing)
